First Selectman - Edward Maum Sheehy

Ed Sheehy

Edward Maum Sheehy has served as Woodbridge First Selectman since 2006, in addition to thirteen terms on the Woodbridge Board of Selectmen. Mr. Sheehy was first elected to the BOS in 1979, and during his tenure has served in many capacities, including as Chairman of the Ordinance Committee, as the Selectmen's liaison to the Board of Police Commissioners, and as Deputy First Selectmen for 10 years. He is a former chairman of the Police/Fire Protocol Committee, the Beecher Road School Building Committee for the construction of the kindergarten wing, and several Charter Review Committees. Mr. Sheehy also served as Chairman of the Beecher Road School Extended Day Review Committee.

Mr. Sheehy is a graduate of Yale University and received his JD from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He has served as Past-President of the Connecticut Bar Association, The Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, and the University of Connecticut Law School Alumni Association. He is also a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers and an Advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates; Mr. Sheehy is a life Fellow of both the American Bar Foundation and the Connecticut Bar Foundation. He is a partner in the Williams, Cooney and Sheehy law firm in Bridgeport, CT.

Ed and his wife, Ellie, have been Woodbridge residents since 1975 where they have raised four children -- all of them graduates of Woodbridge public schools.
