Rita Gedansky

Rita Gedansky currently sits on the Amity Regional Board of Education; she was appointed in February 2001 to fill a vacancy, and elected in May 2001, and again in May 2005, for successive four-year terms. Though her four children have grown, Mrs. Gedansky has remained absolute in her desire to ensure the Amity School District maintains its credibility and financial stability.

Mrs. Gedansky serves as the Secretary of the Amity Regional Board of Education and has also served as Chairperson of the Curriculum Committee, Co-Chairperson of the Communications Committee, and a member of the Policy Committee.

A former social studies teacher at Amity Junior High School in Bethany, Mrs. Gedansky has been a part of our Woodbridge community for thirty-five years. She received her BA and her MA in education from Syracuse University. In 1991, Mrs. Gedansky was recognized for excellence in teaching as the Amity Teacher of the Year. She served for many years as the co-treasurer of the Amity High School Athletics Booster Club, and together with her husband Stanley, was inducted into the Amity Athletics Hall of Fame in June 2000. In addition, Mrs. Gedansky is a member of the Connecticut Association of Social Studies Teachers and is also a member of the B’nai Jacob Sisterhood. Now retired, Mrs. Gedansky and her husband, Stan, enjoy attending Amity High School and UConn sporting events, as well as spending time with their seven grandchildren.
